Summer Isn’t Over Until We Say It Is!
(Irishtown-Summerside, April 1, 2023) The town of Irishtown-Summerside is excited to announce its “So Long to Summer 2.0” Festival, continuing the tradition that was started as part of Newfoundland & Labrador’s Come Home Year 2022.
There will be no shortage of entertainment in Irishtown-Summerside gears up for the final hurrah of summer, starting Friday, September 1st, 2023 and continuing until Sunday, September 3rd, 2023 as the town kicks of its end of summer music festival So Long to Summer 2.0. Event celebrations are set to start on September 1st and continue until Sunday, September 3rd.
Starting on Friday, September 1st, festivities start as Travis Richards takes to the stage, opening for Karla Pilgrim & the Mayflowers later in the evening. Special guests on Friday Night will be Randy Matthews. On Saturday night, Craig Young takes to the stage opening up for one of Newfoundland’s most recognizable bands Shanneyganock as things heat up! Sunday will see fan favourites Big Talk Sam warms up the crowd, followed by The Cover Girls and finally, The Mixed Tapes.
Event organizer, Shannon Morgan, councillor from Irishtown-Summerside sees this as being a bigger & better event than last year. “When we were looking at various event dates throughout the Bay of Islands area, we noticed that there was nothing for the Labour Day Weekend,” Morgan said. “We had a vision last year during Come Home Year 2022 with our initial festival for the area. This year we stepped up and decided to throw a party that the area will not forget and the So Long to Summer Festival 2.0 was born. The live music of the festival features some of the best local musicians from the area and from around the province. We are super excited to offer the best of Newfoundland’s music artists for all to come and enjoy.”
Advanced tickets are anticipated to go on sale in early April 2023 and will be available at the town office at 183 Main Street in Irishtown-Summerside or at the gate each evening of the festival.
